A new fish and chip takeaway will open in the former Yo Yo Noodle Bar on Lincoln High Street, creating five new jobs.

Work has already started to create a new look for Hunters Fish and Chips, which is anticipated to be serving customers by this Autumn.

The store will function as a takeaway restaurant with space for 25 customers to eat in, designed specifically for Hunters by Jay Blades, star of BBC’s Money for Nothing.

The Lincoln site will become the second in a chain to be opened in Lincolnshire within 12 months with one already established in Louth.

The Lincoln Hunters will serve locally sourced food, including line-caught fish, delivered from Grimsby docks daily and Lincolnshire grown Maris Piper potatoes.

All of Hunters fish cakes are made using recipes designed by the staff, including the unique Lincolnshire fishcake, and made by hand in their own kitchen.

Manager Mark Hinkins said locally sourced, quality food was the heart of Hunters success in Louth but the new Lincoln store needs to deliver that quality but with a difference.

He said: “The new branch in Lincoln provides different challenges. Its location in the heart of Lincoln is wonderful but provides a lot of competition from other food outlets, many of them well-known restaurant brands.

“So, of course, not only do we have to provide consistently good quality food but the look and feel of the restaurant is crucial too.

“We wanted to create a space that reflected the Hunters ethos and we have achieved that.

“The food will be created using locally sourced ingredients using our unique recipes and the design will be based around upcycled furniture.

“It’s a perfect fit and makes our restaurant stand out from a lot of the High Street brands that look exactly the same whichever branch you go into.”
