Residents and staff at a new Lincoln care home were joined by children from a local preparatory school as they buried a special time capsule to be uncovered in 100 years time.
In a ceremony which is hoped to reflect the year that the Tennyson Wharf care home at Burton Waters was opened, the group came together with objects that will remind generations 100 years from now of the building of the home.
Children from Burton Hathow Preparatory School chose items such as Loom Bands, cut-outs demonstrating today’s technology, a floor plan of Tennyson Wharf and a list of chart music of the week.
The capsule was buried at the home gardens, accompanied by a plaque, requesting that the capsule is retrieved in 2115.
The 60-bed facility in Burton Waters is the newest addition to Barchester Healthcare, which owns more than 220 care homes in the UK.
Tennyson Wharf care home offers high quality nursing and residential services as well as dementia care to the local area.
Debra Owen, the General Manager at Tennyson Wharf, said: “I’m pleased that we can involve residents and local school children in this momentous occasion.
“When the time capsule has been dug up, the new care home will be long-established in the Burton Waters community.”
